How to Make Indian Shoes
Making sandals at home requires few supplies and produces a pair of (nearly) authentic Indian shoes that will last a long time. Native Americans made their own shoes to protect their feet on long journeys to hunt food or gather necessary supplies. These were typically made with a thick piece of cured animal hide or leather for the sole and thin pieces of leather were threaded into the base to fasten the shoes to their feet. Though they are simply designed, Native American shoes are deceptively durable.
